Philips: LED products sales rose 37 percent in the fourth quarter

Philips has announced that the lighting department of the fourth quarter of 2011 sales of 2.072 billion euros, the company's total sales of 6.7 billion euros.Wholesale LED torches sales grew 37 percent to 373 million euros, accounting for 18% of the total sales in the lighting sector.

The quarter, total sales of Philips' Lighting sector grew by 7%, mainly by double-digit growth in sales of lamps and Automotive Business Unit Professional Luminaires for sales in the double-digit growth.

Lighting sector interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization profit (EBITA) for 41 million euros over the same period in 2010 to 198 million euros. Philips said that the EBITA margin year-over-year decline was caused due to the Consumer Luminaires for and Lumileds continuing to operational problems, as well as macroeconomic factors affect the price of the Philips Consumer Lighting Business.

In 2011, Philips Lighting, the total sales of 7.638 billion euros, of which 5% (380 million euros) from the mount LEDs.

In addition, Philips said, all LED products in 2011 total sales of 1.2 billion euros, higher than 1 billion euros in 2010. Philips is the largest LED lighting manufacturers, and said that the market share of LED lights more than its share of the traditional lamp.

Philips CEO Frans van Houten, has said that Philips will soon lower the prices of LED bulbs. A spokesman also said that in the next few years, due to the products and the cost of innovation, the prices of wholesale LED Gadgets will be a substantial decline, which will reduce the threshold of the application of LED lights.
